Climate

Climate Type:

Argentina has a variety in climate. It has plains, mountains, and plateau. Depending on where you are located in Argentina, the weather can range from cold to super hot. Therefore it has a mixture of a more dry climate and a more wet climate. It all has to do with the different terrain that Argentina has. The climate doesn’t remain very uniform I would say since the climate is all related to the different terrain it has. Here is a map to show the various climates in Argentina.

Seasonality:

The two cities I chose in Argentina were Santiago and Buenos Aires. The annual rage of temperature in Santiago is 13.9 degrees celsius. In Buenos Aires the annual range in temperature is 13.5 degrees celsius. The annual range of precipitation in Santiago is 98.9 millimeters. The annual range of precipitation in Buenos Aires is 57.9 millimeters. The annual temperature for my cities compare to Denver by that Denver annual range in temperature is 22 degrees Celsius, so it’s about 10 degrees Celsius higher than both cities. That’s quite a difference! As for the annual precipitation, in Denver it’s 46 millimeters. It’s significantly lower than Santiago’s annual precipitation and it’s about 10 millimeters lower than Buenos Aires annual precipitation. So Argentina is much wetter than Denver. Denver experiences a pretty big seasonality but Argentina doesn’t really, it stays roughly the same temperature year-long there is not a huge difference in temperature and it has precipitation mainly during the summer. So I would say that Argentina has a small seasonality.

I found your climate information very interesting while comparing it to Greenland (the country I am researching). The seasonality between Argentina and Greenland seem quite different due to their locations on the earth. The seasonality in Argentina seems very moderate and doesn’t seem to vary much. The seasonality in Greenland has a larger seasonality with the typical cold month in the winter, and the warm temperatures in throughout the summer.

After reading your climate blob I learned that Argentina generally stays the same climate year round which is nice for the people of Argentina. Compared to France where we have plains, plateus, and mountains there is a lot of change in weather. France can have mild summers and mild winters but also see a good snow in the winter in the mountains. I would say that are two countries are different in respect that your weather stays mild all year long where my goes up and down depending on the time of year.
